PLAINFIELD — Plainfield police asked motorists Friday to avoid Lockport Street near the DuPage River bridge due to construction.

There would be a temporary lane closure from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday on the road, just west of downtown, for a contractor to install part of a traffic signal, a post on the Plainfield Police Department's Facebook page stated.

"Flaggers will be doing their best, but it will be backed up," the post stated.
