PLAINFIELD – Crystal Lawns Elementary named Carol Betzold, an assistant principal at Charles Reed Elementary, as its new principal.

She will replace Jennifer Jachowicz and will start July 1, according to a news release.

“Carol’s extensive teaching and administrative experience will serve the Crystal Lawns community very well,” Dr. Scott Fink, director of elementary administration and personnel, said in the release. “We are looking forward to her increasing her administrative responsibilities.”

Betzold began her career in 2002 as a third-grade teacher in Solon, Ohio. After five years there, she moved to Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 in 2007 as a fifth-grade teacher at Freedom Elementary.

She has been the assistant principal at Charles Reed since 2015.

“This year, I will look to create short-term, attainable goals as well as long-term strategies to help every student succeed,” Betzold said in the release. “I will work hard every day to set and maintain high standards.”
