Police from Joliet, Plainfield and Shorewood will join law enforcement agencies from Will to Cook County Wednesday in conducting a traffic safety initiative along the Route 59 corridor.

Participating agencies will use education and traffic enforcement in an effort to increase the safety of motorists using the thoroughfare, according to a news release from the Tower Lakes Police Department in the northwest suburbs.

The following police departments are expected to participate in the initiative: Naperville Police Department, Plainfield Police Department, Shorewood Police Department and Joliet Police Department, among others.
