Multi-use bike path in Channahon to make use of federal funds

Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program will provide $787K for project

State Sen. Pat McGuire, D-Crest Hill, announced a local improvement plan funded through the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program this week.

ITEP’s funding includes $787,000 for a multiuse bike and pedestrian path along Bridge Street in Channahon, according to a news release from McGuire’s office.

Funds from the Illinois Department of Transportation make the project possible.

“This planned multiuse path will enable more people to enjoy the history and natural beauty of Channahon,” McGuire said. “Projects like this ... build healthier communities.”

ITEP provides funding for community-based projects.
