The alert included elevated hail risk, thunderstorm wind damage risk and flood risk. Thunderstorms might form about 2 to 3 p.m. in central Illinois and move east.
Showers and thunderstorms are possible later Monday night, primarily south of Interstate 88. A flood advisory continues through Thursday for the east branch of the DuPage River in Bolingbrook, affecting Will County. The river reached 15.9 feet Monday morning.
Flood stage is 19.5 feet. The river was expected to reach 18.6 feet by early Wednesday; minor flooding begins at 18 feet, according to the alert.
"If you encounter a flooded roadway...turn around and find an alternate route," the alert said.
