Elwood’s village administrator, who held her role throughout the village’s talks with NorthPoint over the controversial Compass Business Park proposal, is resigning.
“I am resigning my position with the Village of Elwood to spend more time with my family,” Gibson said in an email Friday. “My last day is July 27.”
Gibson served as village administrator during a tumultuous time for the town of about 2,000.
She saw village officials and residents through talks with Kansas City-based development company NorthPoint regarding its proposal for a more than 2,000-acre industrial park in the area.
Some residents alleged Gibson was secretly working with company and asked for her to step down.
She has held the position since September 2016.
Village President Doug Jenco ended discussions with NorthPoint in April.
