CITGO donates $10,000 to support abused children

Check will kickstart Sept. fundraiser for Children’s Advocacy Center

Officials from the Will County Board today accepted a $10,000 check from Citgo to help fund the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC), an arm of the Will County state’s attorney’s office.

The funds will be used to underwrite the only fundraising event of the year for the CAC, “Men Who Cook,” to be held September 22 at the Chicagoland Speedway.

The CAC provides critical forensic advocacy and counseling services to abused children in Will County. Last year the agency provided services in nearly 560 new cases for children who were abuse victims.

County Board members Mike Fricilone and Herb Brooks, who sit on the CAC Board of Directors, accepted the ceremonial check from Citgo at Thursday’s County Board Meeting.
