Garrett Kirkland, 17, of Minooka, and his coach, Hannah Meyer, will do an open water swim in Lake Tahoe on Aug. 4 to fundraise money for ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Kirkland will start at 8 p.m. in California and end around 8 a.m. in Nevada. He attends Minooka High School and swims with the co-op swim team in Morris. He also volunteers with special Olympics.
Their goal is $20,000. For more information and to donate, visit www.crowdrise.com/o/en/campaign/laketahoe/alongswim.
