A Buona Beef restaurant is planned for Jefferson Street.
Buona Beef would join two other fast-food places planned for West Jefferson Street although construction has not started on any of them.
According to a City Council memo on the Buona Beef proposal, two restaurants are eventually planned for the location at 2210 W. Jefferson St. An unnamed future restaurant is included on a site plan submitted to the city.
Buona Beef is a regional chain with 23 locations, including Bolingbrook and Frankfort.
The developer is applying for a drive-thru permit for the Buona Beef. The council will consider it Monday.
The restaurant would be on Springfield Avenue where there was once a strip mall.
According to the council memo, the driveway to the site, which has a traffic signal, will need to be widened.
The plans for Buona Beef come after an Applebee’s restaurant on West Jefferson closed three weeks ago.
But the City Council in January approved drive-thru permits for a planned Beef Shack at 1606 W. Jefferson and a Nick’s Gyros at 1350 W. Jefferson.
Like the Buona Beef site, the two restaurants would be new uses of redeveloped sites. Construction has not started for either.
Beef Shack would go into a former Taco Bell that has since housed other restaurants and is now vacant.
The building would likely be demolished.
