Walsh celebrates Lincoln with Joliet students

State Rep. Larry Walsh Jr., D-Elwood, recently recognized students from Laraway Community Consolidated School District 70-C who won their school’s “Celebrating Lincoln” essay and coloring contest to commemorate the president’s February birthday.

Contest winners included Izabella Galvan, Alberto Gutierrez and Michael Crowder from Oak Valley Early Childhood Center, and Cassandra Pina and Evelyn Diaz from Laraway Elementary and Junior High School.

A group project by Lawon Sterrett, Malik Brown, Kwasi Anaman and Diamond Wright was also selected. Walsh presented each winner with an Illinois House of Representatives certificate, along with a memento from the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield.

Walsh serves the Illinois House of Representatives 86th District, which includes the communities of Channahon, Crest Hill, Elwood, Joliet, Rockdale and Troy Township. Walsh’s district office is at 121 Springfield Ave., Joliet; he can be reached at 815-730-8600.
