The Plainfield Fire Protection District recently received a plaque from State Fire Marshal Matt Perez.
The plaque was for achieving an Insurance Services Office 1 rating – something only 0.5 percent of fire departments across the nation are able to accomplish, according to a news release. It is the best rating a department can receive. The district is the 17th department in the state to receive the rating, the release stated.
Plainfield Fire Chief David Riddle was presented with the plaque Tuesday at the district’s headquarters on 135th Street.
The rating was determined through an evaluation process that focused on the district’s fire suppression capabilities, emergency communications capabilities, municipal water supply capabilities and the district’s efforts in community risk reduction.
Numerous insurance companies use the rating to determine property insurance rates for residential, commercial and industrial properties.
