One person was taken to the hospital for chest pains from stress after a house caught fire Sunday morning in Joliet, Joliet fire officials said.
About 4 a.m. Sunday, a loud bang awakened a woman living in a home in the 7500 block of Townsend Boulevard, Joliet Deputy Fire Chief Greg Blaskey said.
She went to investigate the source of the noise and found heavy smoke in her garage. Her family and their pets then left the home, Blaskey said.
Fire crews arrived and found a large fire burning in the garage area, he said. The building sustained significant damage, but the fire was quickly under control.
One man was taken to Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center after he experienced chest pains because of stress, Blaskey said.
Fire investigators determined an electrical problem caused the blaze.
