Illinois State Police troopers in District 5, which includes Grundy, Kendall and Will counties, answered 690 calls for service and initiated 2029 incidents in the field during the month of October.
Enforcement figures included 1,620 citations and 960 written warnings, Illinois State Police District 5 Cmdr. Capt. David Schneider said in a news release Tuesday.
Additionally, troopers assisted 334 motorists, conducted 214 motor carrier inspections and investigated 283 traffic crashes. There were four fatal crashes, which District 5 troopers investigated. One fiery crash in early October involved a 24-year-old Shorewood man suffering serious injuries when the motorcycle he was driving struck a commercial vehicle east of Richards Street on eastbound Interstate 80 in Joliet.
