New Lenox brewery and Home Cut come together for — yes — doughnut beer

Arrowhead Ales Brewing Company and Home Cut Donuts recently teamed up

Two local businesses have teamed up to create a rather unique product – doughnut-flavored beer. Beer lovers can try the stout on tap or be able to buy any of the 600 total 22-ounce bottles in each style.

Two local businesses have teamed up to create a rather unique product – doughnut-flavored beer.

The limited edition doughnut beer was brewed with more than 100 original Home Cut doughnuts at Arrowhead Ales Brewing Co. in New Lenox and has been dubbed Home Cut Hero – Imperial Donut Stout. There will be an “Original” version and a “Cherry Cake” option.

The brew is bubbling in tanks, and bottling will happen in about two weeks, said Matt Sharp, creative director and graphic designer for the brewery. Home Cut Hero will be available at 11 a.m. Dec. 15 at Arrowhead Ales’ taproom, 2101 Calistoga Drive in New Lenox.

“Joliet’s favorite” Home Cut doughnuts in pastry form also likely will be available at the taproom Dec. 15, Sharp said, but more details will be made available soon.
