A bait and tackle shop in Wilmington sustained major damage Sunday after a car drove through its front window.
Police received an alarm call about 2 a.m. Sunday at Angelo’s Outdoor Sports Center, 708 W. Baltimore St., Wilmington, according to a news release from the department. When officers arrived, they found a vehicle inside the building. The occupants of the vehicle had fled before police arrived, according to the release.
Surveillance video showed the vehicle crash through front window at such a high rate of speed that it went airborne and cleared the shop’s counter. Video also showed two occupants leave. The vehicle’s passenger later was located at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. The driver, Ryan Potochnic, 22, of Morris, surrendered to police Monday afternoon and was charged with numerous traffic offenses.
