Freight train strikes, kills Aurora woman near Plainfield

A freight train struck and killed a 51-year-old Aurora woman over the weekend, authorities have said.

Lisa J. Gullo was pronounced dead at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, according to a news release from the Will County Coroner’s Office.

A train hit her at the intersection of Normantown Road and Wolfs Crossing Road in Wheatland Township, which is near the township’s border with Naperville, north of Plainfield. The crossing at the location appears to have crossing arms and signals.

The Canadian National Police and the Will County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the incident.

The cause and manner of Gullo’s death will be determined pending police and toxicology reports, the release said.

Wolfs Crossing Road also is called Wolf Road.
