New Lenox will be the site of a Women’s March come Jan. 19.
The Women’s March was an event held the day after President Donald Trump was inaugurated about two years ago in which millions of people marched in Washington, D.C., and several other cities across the country.
The Southwest Suburban Activists in coalition with Action for a Better Tomorrow, Arab American Family Services, Indivisible Illinois, Indivisible South Suburban Chicago, Moms Demand Action Illinois and other community members are organizing the event. A Facebook event for the march says, “We march. We resist. We lead. The Women’s Wave is coming.”
Organizers of the 2019 Women’s March in Chicago announced last month that the event was canceled because of logistical problems.
The march will be from noon to 3 p.m. Jan. 19 at the New Lenox Commons, 1 Veterans Parkway in New Lenox.
