Area roundup: St. Francis women get CCAC win

The St. Francis women’s basketball team captured a 64-60 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference win at Indiana-South Bend. Leading the No. 14 Saints (12-5, 8-1) were Kaitlin Aylward (22 points, eight rebounds), Madi Canady (15 points) and Andriana Acosta (nine points, 10 rebounds).

MEN’S BASKETBALL

St. Francis 94, Indiana-South Bend 83: The Saints (13-6, 7-2) won the CCAC road game behind Malik Bailey (20 points), Jorden Thornton (15 points) and Terrion Howard (14 points).

JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Sain to be honored: Laraway School will honor longtime basketball coach Wardie Sain at 4 p.m. on Thursday in its new building at 1715 Rowell Ave. by naming its gym after him and recognizing his induction into the IBCA Hall of Fame.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Lockport 70, Andrew 54: The Porters (9-4) were led by Matt Hatzopoulos (18 points) and Tommy Halatek (14 points, 11 rebounds).

Stagg 59, Plainfield Central 45: The Wildcats lost the nonconference road game.

St. Laurence 58, Providence 53: The Celtics fell short in the CCL road game.

Bloom 69, Joliet West 37: A highly touted Bloom squad proved far too much for the Tigers (2-11).

Naperville Central 45, Minooka 29: The Indians dropped to 5-10.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Lincoln-Way West 71, Thornton 55: Taylor Gugliuzza scored 25 points to lead the Warriors.

Bolingbrook 63, Stagg 55: The Raiders got back to the .500 mark.

Joliet Central 50, Crete-Monee 43: Central picked up its 13th victory.

Lincoln-Way East 44, Sandburg 41: The Griffins (14-4) ran their winning streak to seven with a SWSC win.

Naperville North 43, Plainfield North 40: The Tigers (5-17) were edged out in a nonconference matchup.

St. Ignatius 73, Providence 60: The Celtics dropped to 13-6 with the loss.
