Two men were jailed in connection with a Romeoville gun attack.
About 4:15 p.m. Thursday, Romeoville police responded to the Lockport Township Fire Department located at Weber and Romeo roads to investigate a report of a shooting victim.
Initial witness statements indicated the victim was shot in the area of Weber Road near Renwick Road in Crest Hill. The victim, Carlos Gasca, 18, of Crest Hill, was taken to Amita Bolingbrook Hospital.
Investigation by Romeoville and Crest Hill police, and the Will County Major Crimes Task Force determined the shooting occurred near Weber and Airport roads in Romeoville.
Eric Alhourani, 19, and Marco Mesina, 20, both of Romeoville, were arrested in connection with the shooting, the Romeoville police said. Alhourani was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, reckless discharge of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance and obstructing justice. Mesina was charged with possession of a controlled substance and obstructing justice.
Both were booked into the Will County jail about 3:30 a.m. Friday. The Romeoville police said the shooting was an isolated incident and there was no threat to the public.
Residents who were signed up for alerts from the Will County Emergency Management Agency received a message about 6 p.m. that said Crest Hill police were investigating an “incident” on Weber Road between Renwick Road and Ryan Drive.
The northbound lanes were closed for a few hours, witnesses said.
