Knights of Columbus Council 6521presented a check for $2,000 to Jill Mukushina of Lily Cache Special Recreation Association (LCSRA). The Knights’ donation kicks off LCSRA’s fund drive to develop a sensory room that will help children with intellectual disabilities.
The presentation was made during the annual Christmas Party for children from LCSRA sponsored by the Knights. Mayor Roger Claar, Deputy Mayor Michael Lawler, and Village Trustee Sheldon Watts were present for the presentation.
During the last year the Knights of Columbus raised funds towards this cause through number of activities including their on-street “Tootsie Roll Drive” and a charity golf outing. The money donated will be used for development of a sensory room by LCSRA.
A sensory room is a therapeutic space with a variety of equipment that provides students with special needs a personalized sensory input. It helps these children to calm and focus themselves so they can be better prepared for learning and to interact with others.
The members of Knights of Columbus Council 6521 are currently engaged in an aggressive campaign to raise additional funds to support LCSRA.
On Aug. 12 the Knights will host a charity golf outing at Bolingbrook Golf Club. For information, email Sean Lynch email@example.com.
