Large ice packs float down the Kankakee River on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019, in Wilmington, Ill.

The Will County Health Department Environmental Health Division is recommending that residents of the Phelan Acres subdivision west of Wilmington pick up bottles and forms for water testing.

The subdivision extends as a peninsula of land near the cooling lakes. The department also recommends residents chlorinate private water wells.

Last week, a few residents along the river evacuated their homes due to the Kankakee River flooding.

The department also recommends testing after the flushing of the wells from chlorination treatment.

The Will County Health Department’s main building is located at 501 Ella Ave. in Joliet. Residents can pick up materials between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
