The Crest Hill police have located a young woman who walked off in the early morning hours Saturday wearing just a sweatshirt and jeans. She is safe, police said.

The Crest Hill police described missing Kari Ann Simonic as an "endangered female" early Saturday, but sent an alert just before 11 a.m. informing the public she had been found.

Temperatures plunged as low as 5 degrees during the time of Simonic's disappearance.

Simonic, 25, was last seen walking east from the area of Oakland Avenue and the railroad crossing south of Caton Farm Road about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, police said. She was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

Simonic is about 5-foot-11, thin and has blonde hair.

"She was with friends, there was some kind of disagreement and she walked away," said Crest Hill Police Chief Ed Clark.

Clark said his officers have been searching for Simonic "since the inception of the call."

The Will County Emergency Management Agency also has been working to locate Simonic, he said.

"Thank you to everyone for your help during this incident," police said in an alert.
