JOLIET – It came down to the wire for the Lockport basketball team on Monday night as they edged Joliet Central 39-38. Jake Karli's lay-up at the buzzer accounted for the final margin for Lockport, now 13-9. Joliet Central dropped to 15-11 with the loss.
Coal City 76, Joliet Catholic 69: The Coalers were led by Austin Pullara (29 points, 12 rebounds), Jarod Garrelts (12 points, 11 rebounds), Payton Hutchings (12 points, seven rebounds) and Jack Bunton (10 points).
Herscher 48, Gardner-South Wilmington 44: The Panthers (20-9, 10-1) led 29-19 at half but were outscored 29-15 after the break.
Clifton Central 50, Reed-Custer 40: Reed-Custer was outscored 18-10 in the third quarter and couldn't recover in a nonconference loss. Riley Johnson had 15 points and 10 rebounds for Reed-Custer (11-14).
Bolingbrook 78, Joliet West 59: The Raiders beat the Knights in their own 4A regional.
Plainfield Central 51, Naperville North 41: The Wildcats opened with a win the 4A Bolingbrook Regional.
Lincoln-Way West 64, Oak Lawn 44: The Warriors opened with a win in their 4A regional.
Rich South 71, Joliet Catholic 64: The Angels fell in the 3A Rich South Regional.
Providence 64, Rich East 26: The Celtics won their opener in the 3A Rich South Regional.
Homewood-Flossmoor 56, Lincoln-Way Central 35: The Knights fell in the 4A Marist Regional.
Joliet West 63, Plainfield East 34: Jazz Evans pumped in 20 points to lead the Tigers into the semifinal round of the Bolingbrook Regional. Mailyah Walker also added 11 for Joliet West (13-16), while Plainfield East capped its season with a 5-22 record.
Yorkville 48, Lockport 46 (OT): The Porters suffered a heartbreaking loss in the opening round of their own regional and closed its campaign with a record of 9-22.
Waubonsie Valley 57, Lemont 27: The Indians fell in the opening round of the Plainfield North Regional and ended its season at 6-20.
Neuqua Valley 41, Plainfield North 28: The Tigers dropped their opening round matchup at the Plainfield North Regional to finish the campaign with a mark of 6-24.
Metea Valley 50, Romeoville 24: The Spartans took the loss in the opening round of the Oswego Regional to conclude its year at 8-19.
Morris 30, Coal City 25: Morris (2-29) picked up a berth in the semifinals as they held the Coalers to single digits in every quarter. Helen Onsen had 14 points for Coal City, who finished with an 8-21 record.
