Rodney A. Tonelli was recently appointed to the board of directors of Hometown National Bank.

Jim Riley, board chairman, announced the appointment, which was ratified Jan. 23.

“Rod is someone who always asks the right questions,” Riley said. “He is someone to turn to if you really want insights on the community and the impact our decisions might have.”

President and CEO of Hometown National Bank Dave Conterio said Tonelli has served as a member of the bank’s advisory board in Joliet.

“I look forward to bringing his thoughtfulness and community spirit to our governing board,” Conterio said. “Rod has been actively involved in many charitable organizations over the years and that sense of giving back is something that we wish to greater embody organization-wide. He will help us with that.”

Tonelli is president of Ruettiger, Tonelli and Associates in Shorewood, a multidisciplinary design firm with an emphasis in civil engineering, urban planning and geographic information technologies.

A Bachelor of Arts graduate of Marquette University with a master’s in urban planning from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Tonelli lives in Joliet with his wife, Kelly, who is executive director of communication and marketing for Joliet Junior College.

“As a client and advisory board director since Hometown National Bank opened in the Joliet market, I have been grateful for the personal relationship and superior service that their community banking approach provides,” Tonelli said. “I am honored to join the board and be part of the Hometown commitment to our customers and communities.”

Hometown has served the area since 1880.
