Local arts and entertainment: March 11 through March 18

The Metropolitan Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) performed the first of two winter concerts on March 6 at the St. Charles Borromeo Convocation Hall on the Romeoville campus of Lewis University. The orchestra featured a performance called Northern Spells by Tatiana Riabinkina, the winner of their 2019 Student Composition Contest. MYSO received student submissions from all around the world. Upon learning of her win, Riabinkina enthusiastically made travel plans to fly from New Zealand to attend the performance and meet the orchestra members. She is pictured with Lawrence Sisk, MYSO's director. The concert will be repeated March 17 at Joliet Junior College.
