Local residents participate in various creative works

Lincoln-Way District 210 will dedicate the newly named Charles R. Stark Center for the Performing Arts with a celebration concert at Lincoln-Way Central High School at 2 p.m. March 9. The event is free.

Featured ensembles and performers that represent Stark's career include the Lincoln-Way Central Madrigals, founded by Mr. Stark in 1969; Kent Campbell, class of 1981; Michael Flanigan,class of 1988, Broadway actor; Marie Michuda D'Ortenzio, class of 1985, Northwestern University; AnnMarie D'Ortenzio, Lincoln-Way East High School; Jeff Mattsey, class of 1981, Metropolitan Opera; Leslie Walson, class of 1985

Lincoln-Way Choral alumni will be invited onstage to sing the Lincoln-Way Alma Mater and concert closing.

Joelle Watson of Plainfield was part of the cast and crew from Baldwin Wallace University that staged Steven Dietz's "American La Ronde" during the fall 2018 semester.

Watson, a graduate of Plainfield North High School and majoring in theatre stage management and arts management and entrepreneurship, served as assistant stage manager in the production.

The Bob Jones University Classic Players recently named Kayla Swanson to the cast of the upcoming production of "Titanic: The Musical," with performance March 14 through March 16.

Swanson, a middle school education major from Frankfort, will play the role of Mme. Ninette Aubart and U/S for Kate McGowan in the production.

Earlier this month, Troy Middle School hosted performances of "The Little Mermaid."

The leads in the musical were seventh-graders Payton Fraser (Ariel), Malachi Pellegrini (Prince Eric), Jade Newby (Flounder), Daniel Sanchez (Sebastian), and Karis Posteluk (Scuttle), along with eighth-grader Gianna Ronchetti (Ursula).
