Neighborhood organizations held a forum for candidates running for Joliet City Council on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at Joliet Area Historical Museum in Joliet, Ill.

The Collins Street Neighborhood Council will hold a bilingual forum on Saturday for the Joliet City Council District 4 race.

The forum is at 10 a.m. in the Spanish Community Center at 302 N. Eastern Ave. The neighborhood council in a news release invited “the community, especially residents and business owners within Joliet District 4,” to the forum.

All three District 4 candidates in the April 2 election have confirmed they will attend, the release said. Candidates are Councilwoman Bettye Gavin, James Foster and Damon Zdunich. One segment of the forum will include an opportunity for people in the audience to ask questions.

The Collins Street Neighborhood Council does not endorse candidates but “does promote educational awareness of elections in order to foster a more informed community.” The council also invited people to its regular meetings, which are held at 7 p.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month at the center.
