The first-grade students at Indian Trail School celebrated Theodor Seuss Geisel’s (best known as Dr. Seuss) birthday.

The students read his biography and brought in their favorite books written by Dr. Seuss. The first graders were engaged in a variety of related literature extension activities and related math activities all week.

Additionally, they celebrated a school-wide “Friendship month” in February. The students participated in read-alouds, viewed videos from "The Kid President," participated indiscussions, completed bucket filling activities, and found a “secret student” of the day.

They also heard the story of "Mean Jean the Recess Queen" by Alexis O’Neill, which is a book about the power of friendship and kindness.
