A missing man with mental disabilities was found safe, according to the Will County Sheriff's Office Sunday morning.

Sheriff's deputies responded at 9:30 a.m. Saturday to the 6500 block of West Kennedy Road in unincorporated Peotone Township for a reported missing person, according to a news release from the office.

Officials learned Patrick S. Bennett left through the backdoor of a residence in the area about 12:30 a.m. Saturday. Bennett's mother told deputies that several family members began to look for the man at that time and were unsuccessful.

She also said Bennett has done this before, and he previously was found in the residence or at Indian Oaks Academy in Manteno. Deputies contacted area hospitals and searched the residence and were unable to find the man.

Bennett's mother said he has the mental capacity of a 10-year-old, the release said.

He last was seen wearing gray sweatpants and a dark-colored coat. Bennett is 5-foot-7 and weighs about 130 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes, according to the release.
