Plainfield vet shares bond with pregnant pup in new Nat Geo show

Nat Geo WILD’s new show “Animal ER Live” featured a veterinarian from Plainfield during its premiere last weekend.

The National Geographic network’s new show illustrates animal emergency rooms from across the country, including the Animal Care Center, located on Route 59 in Plainfield.

In the episode, Dr. Lauren Spinelli cares for a pregnant dog that has gotten into a fight, and Spinelli had just come back from maternity leave herself.

“I feel very akin to this poor mama right now,” Spinelli said.

The unborn puppies appeared to be all right, and the mother would be, too.

“Animal ER Live” is a live event series, airing at 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday nights.

Emmy Award-winning journalist Mark Steines hosts the show, which runs for three more weeks, according to a news release.
