To the Editor:
Thank you, Charles, for pointing out my error (about North Vietnam). As a Vietnam-era veteran, I really should of known better. Senility may apply in my case, but it is not the first mistake I have made in my life and I certainly can attest to the fact it wont be the last.
I actually went when I was drafted during the Vietnam "police action" as they used to call it, instead of going to Canada like so many did during that era.
I have to admit a lot of my buddies that died over there may have felt like going to Canada or apologizing to the American public that took every opportunity to make our lives miserable those many years ago.
But we did not. Instead we served our country when asked and I for one thank my fellow Americans who today take the time to thank all of us veterans for our service.
Perhaps some of you may want to thank the veterans buried at the Abraham Lincoln Cemetery sometime as you drive past it.
