To the Editor:
Concerning Ray Malmgren’s expressway idea, for those unfamiliar with the plan, the southern route, east-west shortcut is called the Illiana Toll Road, a great idea to relieve congestion on the overcrowded Interstate 80 and aid the development of Joliet as a logistics center and the fantasy airport.
As far as the there being too many warehouses, I think that complex issue is best left to the private sector analysts that are more aware of the developments, plans and opportunities the free market provides.
Who in government has this knowledge, expertise and money to risk building and regulating warehouses considering how screwed up they can make the simple things like the huge state debt, the pension crisis, public education and costly public sector union contracts?
All we get out of locals is NIMBY and complaints about lack of job opportunities.
The Illinois toll road should step up to the plate and build the Illiana. Look what Interstate 88 did for the development of Naperville, Aurora and Elburn.
