The family of a 21-year-old man who was struck by a train and killed is seeking help with paying for his funeral, according to their online fundraiser. Kristy Adams, the mother of Jordan K. Korn, 21, of Joliet Township, created a GoFundMe on Tuesday to raise funds to pay for her son’s funeral.

Korn was struck by a train and killed near the 300 block of Patterson Road about
4 p.m. Sunday. Joliet police officers, Joliet firefighters and Will County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the incident.

“This is very heartbreaking for all of us. We were not prepared for the large expense of a funeral,” Adams said.

The GoFundMe has a goal of $5,000 and has raised $795 as of Friday afternoon.

A memorial visitation for Korn was scheduled for Thursday at Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home and Crematory in Joliet, according to his obituary.

“He was a great kid. He would give you the shirt off his back,” said Tina Matthews, Korn’s cousin.

Korn was employed at Trader Joe’s, according to his obituary.
