Two eastbound lanes were shut down on the Interstate 80 bridge over Chicago Street late Friday morning after a hole developed in the roadway.
One lane remained open as workers set to repairing the hole in the road over Chicago Street.
All lanes were open by early afternoon, said Guy Tridgell, spokesman for the Illinois Department of Transportation.
A steel plate was installed to cover the hole wiht more substantial repairs likely to take place next week, according to Tridgell.
The repair work would likely be done overnight to minimize the impact on traffic, Tridgell said.
