A Plainfield elementary school’s roof was a casualty of severe storms last week.
On July 2, part of Ridge Elementary School’s gymnasium and multipurpose room roof was ripped off after severe storms tore through the Will County area. After the storms passed, crews worked to secure the area, Plainfield School District 202 said in a Facebook post Wednesday.
“We worked immediately after the storm to put on a temporary roof,” said Tom Hernandez, community relations director for the district.
Roofing contractors were on-site last Wednesday to install the temporary roof. The permanent replacement roof will be done before school starts on Aug. 14, according to the post.
“A recovery team is working with the contractor to get the roof ready by school starting,” Hernandez said.
