The Plainfield Police Department announced that road closures around this weekend’s Plainfield Fest will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday and will last until early July 22, according to a news release from the Plainfield Police Department.
The 38th annual festival returns Friday to the downtown business district, with the carnival located at Plainfield Central High School. An entertainment tent will feature live music from bands such as American English, 7th Heaven, Maggie Speaks and more.
• Des Plaines Street between Chicago and Main streets will be closed. There will be limited access for residents north of Oak Street.
• Chicago Street between Illinois and Fox River streets will be closed.
A checkpoint for handicapped parking and local permits will be located at the Illinois and Chicago streets intersection.
• Fox River Street between Lockport and Ottawa streets will be closed. Residents of Fox River Street will have access and on-street parking will be limited to permits.
• Lockport Street will not be closed Thursday night. Plainfield police will close Lockport Street by 6 a.m. Friday, from Route 59 to James Street. Limited access will remain east of Illinois Street and west of Fox River Street.
Parking will be available at Plainfield Central High School. Additional parking is located at the municipal parking lot next to the Plainfield Library on Illinois Street. Handicapped parking will be available on Chicago Street between Illinois and Des Plaines streets, Lockport Street west of Fox River Street, and Fox River Street south of Lockport Street. Additional parking will also be available at Riverfront Park and at Plainfield Village Hall.
Roads are expected to reopen about 6 a.m. July 22.
The Plainfield Police Department wants all motorists to expect traffic delays and to be aware of an increase in pedestrian traffic in the downtown area.
