Twenty students who attend Troy District 30-C schools recently received comprehensive eye examinations provided by Ageless Eye Care, and eight of them received new or updated eyeglasses.
The program was organized by Troy Heritage Trail Elementary School social worker Jodi Tarver, who said yearly eye examinations are important so that visual disorders and eye diseases can be identified and corrected or treated.
The exams were provided by a licensed optometrist, who came with a full-scopemobile eye care clinic. The exams were conducted at Heritage Trail.
This is the first year for the program, which Principal Brooke Allen said was a huge success. The educators hope to expand the program at the school next year.
