Here are the facts
To the Editor:
In response to a question asked by Mr. Donald R. Lattin in the opinion section July 23 titled: “Show me some facts,” where Mr. Lattin wishes to know where to find the facts about Trump and his countless lies, as well as the reason for Trump’s cover-up. Well, Mr. Lattin, one of the many places to look is politifact.com. This nonpartisan organization fact-checks each, and every, politician and publishes their findings. Please visit their “About” page to learn the origins of their funding as well as their transparency.
Here are more facts, Mr. Lattin: Donald Trump lies more than any American politician in history; he is the most unrespected worldwide, the most narcissistic, the most ridiculed, the most laughed at, the most made-fun-of, the most divisive, the most racist, the most homophobic, the most xenophobic, the most misogynistic, the biggest bully, the most corrupt and the most hated president our country has ever seen. The truth is, Trump is a real live anomaly; that’s right, he’s an accident. He is in the Oval Office because Democrats did not vote – period. How do I know this? Because In 2016 Clinton received about 63 million votes and Trump received only 60 million. However, in 2012, President Obama received nearly 66 million votes to Romney’s 61 million. These numbers are real, and they are facts. I invite you to fact-check me, please. Furthermore, Trump is in the White House with assistance from the Russians, and that fact is the basis and the reason for Trump’s soon-to-be-uncovered cover-up.
Remember, Mr. Lattin, vote American, not Republican!
Laughter is the best medicine
To the Editor:
The world would be pretty dull if we didn’t have laughter to raise our spirit. The Bible even promotes it: “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine, but a broken spirit drieth the bones.” (Proverbs 17:22) I believe that God’s medicine is laughter. Norman Cousins, author of “An Anatomy of An Illness,” used humor to combat his illness and lived another 26 years. Dr. Lee Beck, a pioneer in the study of the benefits of laughter, stated that laughter has been shown to increase immunity, is heart healthy and helps with diabetes and pain control. It is a stress relief and anti-aging. Exposing Alzheimer patients to “humor therapy” appears to be effective as drugs in reducing agitation. It definitely combats depression and laughter is contagious. At the Cancer Center Treatment of America, they have introduced “Laughter Club,” where patients and families enjoy the benefits of laughing.
Lord Byron stated, “Always laugh when you can, it is cheap medicine.”
Charlie Chaplin said, “A day without laughter is a day wasted.”
Jay Leno said, “You can’t stay mad at somebody who makes you laugh.”
And John F. Kennedy said, “There are three things which are real: God, human folly and laughter. The first two are beyond our comprehension. So we must do what we can with the third.”
Will Rogers even had politicians laughing at themselves. Maybe they should start a “laughter club” in Springfield and Washington, D.C. I say tears of laughter are good for the soul and the best tears are those that run down your leg when you are laughing. Have a good laugh today.
