A Park Forest man has been charged with driving under the influence when he was involved in a car crash that injured three people on Interstate 80 in Frankfort Township, according to court records.
On Wednesday, Lamar R. Richardson, 35, of the 200 block of Forest Boulevard was indicted six counts of aggravated DUI.
Richardson was arrested about
3:30 a.m. July 21 after Illinois State Police responded to a two-car crash on I-80 near milepost 145 in Frankfort Township, according to court records.
According to police reports, Richardson was one of the drivers and emitted a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage from his breath, had red, glassy eyes and admitted to drinking.
He refused to submit to a preliminary breath test, the police report said.
The indictment alleges that Richardson had blood-alcohol concentration of 0.08 percent or more.
The driver and passengers in the other vehicle were taken from the scene of the crash with injuries, according to police reports.
Richardson initially was charged with DUI, but the charge was dropped after he was indicted on a charge of aggravated DUI.
Richardson was also charged with operating an uninsured vehicle, failure to reduce speed, improper traffic lane use and following too closely.
After Richardson was arrested, he was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond. He is scheduled to appear in court for his arraignment Aug. 14.
