Metra makes minor schedule changes, affecting Will County riders

Train passengers wait for a Metra train to pull into the Joliet Station Wednesday, Oct. 14, in downtown Joliet.
Train passengers wait for a Metra train to pull into the Joliet Station Wednesday, Oct. 14, in downtown Joliet.

Metra announced it will introduce a number of new schedules Sept. 3 with minor changes on five lines, including two that go through Will County.

The Heritage Corridor line, which runs from Joliet, through Lockport, Romeoville, Lemont, Willow Springs and Summit to Chicago, will have its stop times at intermediate stations adjusted to reflect operating conditions. But the departure times from Joliet and arrival times at Union Station in Chicago will not change.

The Rock Island line, which runs from Joliet through New Lenox, Mokena and Tinley Park to Chicago, will have several changes on its 302, 418, 503, 613, 615, 617 and 619 trains from Monday through Friday.

In addition, the weekend pilot program, which added six inbound and six outbound trains on Saturdays will end. But a new train, 229, will depart from La Salle Street in Chicago at 10 p.m. Saturdays and make all stops along the Beverly Branch and mainline.

The full schedule can be viewed for both lines on metrarail.com.
