Channahon police seek help in finding man charged with recording child in bathroom

Channahon police asked for the public’s assistance Monday in locating a Joliet man charged with illegally filming a family member in a bathroom at his home.

On Wednesday, Richard K. Buss, 36, was charged with unauthorized video recording of a minor, a Class 3 felony punishable by two to five years in prison. Channahon police said in a news release Monday that the minor was related to Buss, and a family member found the recording on Buss’ phone.

Will County Judge Ben Braun signed a warrant for Buss’ arrest Wednesday. It carries a $75,000 bond. The criminal complaint filed against Buss alleges he “knowingly made a video record” of a person younger than the age of 18 while that child was in a bathroom at Buss’ residence in the 22900 block of South Patricia Lane in Channahon. Channahon police said Buss was a Joliet resident. The incident reportedly occurred July 24.

Buss remained at large Monday. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 815-467-2112. Police did not have a photo of Buss.
