Breaking: Woman shot in Crest Hill Tuesday night, police say

Crest Hill police are investigating a shooting that occurred Tuesday night in which a woman in her 20s was wounded.

Police responded about 10 p.m. Tuesday to the 500 block of Pasadena Avenue in Crest Hill for a report of shots fired, Crest Hill Police Chief Ed Clark said.

When police arrived, they found a woman in her 20s who had been shot, Clark said. Her injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. She was taken to Amita Health Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, he said.

Clark said police had some leads on suspects Tuesday morning. He said no one else was injured in the shooting.

Another shooting reportedly occurred just over a mile from Pasadena Avenue about the same time.

Levelle Barfield Jr., 22, of Crest Hill was arrested and charged with aggravated battery for allegedly shooting his young son and the boyfriend of his child’s mother Tuesday. The incident happened at an apartment in the 1000 block of Broadway Street in Joliet, according to the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office.
