Cornerstone's Lotus Art Studio
Lanoue said Cornerstone started the art studio because it eventually became apparent that clients interested in art needed a place where they could work on creative projects.
In addition, clients who struggle with expressing themselves often find a creative home in the art studio.
"They do different types of weaving, mixed media – taking different color buttons and makings things. It just keeps getting bigger and bigger," Lanoue said. "We've added photography...in fact, the past couple of years, some of our photos were selected to be part of the Artist of Illinois series, a juried art exhibit."
Lanoue said Gallery Seven, which hosts the Artists of Illinois exhibit, wasn't aware the photographs were created by Cornerstone clients during the selection process.
"They just pick them because they like them," Lanoue said.
Lanoue is very happy Gallery Seven has taken an interest in the artwork of Cornterstone clients.
"The gallery has been wonderful," Lanoue said. "We're very grateful to have them working with us."
