Bertino-Tarrant to host veterans' breakfast in Plainfield

Event is set for Oct. 16

State Sen. Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant is inviting Will County veterans to her annual breakfast event Oct. 16.

The event will also feature representatives from a number of agencies and a guest speaker, according to a news release.

“We cannot thank our veterans enough for their service and sacrifice,” said Bertino-Tarrant, D-Shorewood. “Events like this annual breakfast serve as a way to show our gratitude and support for our nation’s heroes and their families.

Representatives from the Attorney General’s Military and Veterans Rights Bureau, Will County Clerk’s Office, Inspire Heroes, Honor Flight Chicago, the Veterans Assistance Commission of Kendall County and the Will County Veterans Assistance Commission will be in attendance to discuss the services and programs they offer.

Linda Chapa LaVia, the acting director of the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs, will also discuss functions of the bureau and its past and current initiatives.

The breakfast will take place from
8:30 to 10 a.m. Oct. 16 at the Plainfield American Legion, located at 24741 W. Renwick Road in Plainfield.
