The Plainfield Fire Protection District will host its annual Fire Prevention Week Open House on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
For Fire Prevention Week this year, the theme of the open house is “Not every hero wears a cape. Plan and practice your escape,” according to a news release. The event is free and family-friendly.
The theme encourages everyone to be a hero by making a home fire escape plan and practicing the plan.
The open house will take place at Fire Station 2, located at 23806 W. 135th St. in Plainfield.
There will be a children’s firefighter challenge course, a side-by-side fire sprinkler demonstration, displays, free raffle prizes and free refreshments. Visitors can also participate in tours of the fire station.
