Multiple Will County area hospitals recently were awarded top grades for patient safety by a national nonprofit organization.
AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center in Bolingbrook and Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox were all awarded “A” grades for their performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, infections and other harm, according to a news release.
By earning “A” grades in Leapfrog’s biannual safety grade study, the hospitals rank among the safest in the nation. These hospitals were among 87 to earn the top score.
“The safety of our patients is always our top priority,” said Dr. Stuart Marcus, AMITA Health’s executive vice president and chief clinical officer. “We appreciate the trust our patients put in us.”
Leapfrog’s safety grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute care hospitals twice a year. For information, visit hospitalsafetygrade.org.
