On Tuesday, U.S. Rep. Bill Foster announced that Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Joliet will receive an award from the Department of Health and Human Services for nearly $3.5 million.
The funding will be provided through the HHS Head Start and Early Head Start Office, according to a news release.
“Investing in our future means investing in early childhood education,” said Foster, D-Naperville.
Catholic Charities of Joliet’s Head Start initiatives provide educational opportunities and daycare programs for children up to 5 years old from low-income families. The programs provide activities, medical and dental care, healthy meals and a safe setting for children to play indoors and outdoors.
“These programs give the children of Joliet the access to educational resources necessary early in their lives,” Foster said.
