The Troy Middle School seventh-grade scholastic bowl team took third place at the annual Junior High Academic Bowl, hosted by Providence Catholic High School on Oct. 14.
Teams from 16 public and private schools involving 250 seventh- and eighth-graders competed.
The TMS seventh-grade team consisted of Josie Jarmuz, Catherine Slager, Mary Papandria, Trenton Marski, Diego Martinez, Cara Lewandowski, Kimberly Garcia, Alejandro Montes, Regis Appiah, Anthony Heald, Sebastian Rojas, Abby Price, Brendan Olson, Emmanuel Zamora, Jesus Fileto and Angela Conde.
The TMS eighth-grade team consisted of Praise God Anighoro, Sean Zarobsky, Etta Sklar, Amy Gusewelle, Madison Aharrah, Sofie Young, Tiffany Trizna, Isabella Chen, Wally Nowacki, Brandon Price, Kennedy Dorris, Sarah Shay, Kendall Rusch and Alexander Brown.
Several team members also received individual awards, including TMS seventh-graders Diego Martinez (first place, geography), Regis Appiah (third, science), Josie Jarmuz (third, math), Alejandro Montes (third, social studies), Emmanuel Zamoras (third, English language arts), Angela Conde (fifth, geography), Cara Lewandowski (fifth, English language arts) and Trenton Marski (fifth, science).
Eighth-graders receiving individual awards at the competition were Sean Zarobsky (third place, math), Etta Sklar (fourth, geography), and Tiffany Trizna (fifth, English language arts).
