Earl Walker's wife Shirley never had a dollhouse growing up. And the couple never purchased one for their children as they had two boys.
One day Shirley (now deceased) asked Earl to made one for her.
So Earl, who isn't a woodworker but used to work in sheet metal, ordered a kit and built one. He estimates he's since made 30, all custom painted and decorate.
He shared the hobby with Dick Sievers, whose wife Helen lives in the memory care unit at Senior Star at Weber Place in Romeoville. Dick donated his first dollhouse to a Senior Star fundraiser and is now working on his second.
