Joliet Retirement Home is Rooted in Spirituality

SPONSORED

Founded by the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate, Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home has been rooted in spirituality for over half a century. Faith and Franciscan values are interwoven into the mission statement, building design, staff hiring, training and the daily lives of their residents.

OLA’s mission statement begins with, “Our Lady of Angels is committed to the healing mission of Jesus by providing holistic quality care…” While senior living and resident needs have changed over the years, this component of the mission statement has remained the same. The community surrounds and supports both residents and their families by providing compassionate, person-centered care entwined with Catholic values.

The location of OLA’s chapel is an example of how OLA’s ‘foundation in faith’ is visibly evident. Located in the center of the OLA complex, it can be accessed from each of the building’s four wings or directly upon walking through the main entrance.

Jenny Guiney states, “Many people say that the chapel is the heart of OLA. It is central to our everyday lives.” Residents and surrounding community members can attend mass in the OLA chapel every day of the week. They can also use the chapel during non-mass-scheduled hours for private prayer.

The first Friday of each month is Eucharistic Adoration and Anointing of the Sick in the chapel. Anointing of the Sick is also available at any time upon request. OLA’s Director of Pastoral Care assists with residents’ spiritual needs in an individual or group based environment.

The Our Lady of Angels community offers residents a different focus and atmosphere for senior living centered around supporting and nurturing each person’s spirituality. All are welcome!
